early sept!!

[ It's a little early in September that Weiss and Tsumugi decide to make their date plans concrete. The itinerary is just an amusement park trip, which will take up a lot of time, Weiss assumes, so she didn't really plan for more than that. She's got enough Chroma to spend for herself, because as much as it is a date, she doesn't want to expect Tsumugi to spend for everything. There are various food stalls in the park, so they can have lunch or snacks there whenever they're hungry. An arcade also happens to be inside the park, should they want to play games rather than go on rides.

The park opens close to noontime- at 11 in the morning. There are people out and about with Sanguis moonblessings, and she's sure Tsumugi isn't Sanguis, so it works out.

It's still a date, so she wants to dress up nicely. She should probably wear pants, but they're uncomfortable to wear. At least it's just a simple dress with no petticoat. She's not overdressed! Her hair is kept in its usual high sidetail, and her usual hairpin is there. Perhaps the last time Tsumugi saw her, she was wearing a pair of heels, but today, she's actually wearing a pair of white flat sandals. As much as she'd prefer to wear her usual heels, she just didn't feel good wearing them with the dress. It felt like it didn't match.

In any case, she waits by the entrance to the park, a purse in hand. She's never gone on an actual date before...! She looks kind of fidgety - excited and nervous at the same time. ]

[ it's a good thing that they planned their date this way too, because the last thing tsumugi wants is to freak weiss out with whatever animal he's going to transform on this month's iris moon. rabbit ears and tail would be all right, but maintaining a mop of jellyfish hair would prove more trouble than it's worth.

and, well, it's not as though tsumugi thinks of himself as ugly or anything, given that he's an idol and all, but he looks homelier than most of the boys from his school. coupled with the fact that he isn't sure what to wear on a date, and here he is - looking simple and a bit nerdy, but he'd also tied his hair back in a low ponytail like the first time they'd met at the casino, while also showing off a couple more piercings on his right ear.

so yes, keeping it simple for today. tsumugi didn't recognize weiss from afar at first, and had to pick up the pace a little to make sure he isn't mistaking her for somebody else since... wow. not that she isn't pretty before, but today she's just-- ]

Weiss-chan! Did I keep you waiting? [ she's radiant up close, that's for sure. ]

[schmisse]

[ Weiss did wait, but she wouldn't take it against Tsumugi. She likes being punctual above all else, so even though she waited for about ten minutes, it's on her and not on anybody else.

And maybe she's a little excited because she's never gone on a date before?? ]

You didn't, don't worry.

[ He might think he did! She wants to clear that up and she doesn't want to start off the day with Tsumugi feeling bad. ]

I like what you did with your hair. [ She points to her own ponytail when she says this. It's a nice change, While Tsumugi's hair is fine when it's down (she certainly doesn't see anything wrong with it), this is nice too?? Plus the suspenders... he looks like a cute nerd??? ]

[ he is a cute nerd... and he's going to start blushing up a storm like a cute nerd too, fiddling with his ponytail a bit. ] Hehe, thank you. ♪ Weiss-chan's looking cute today with her dress too.

[ they don't look half-bad together in their outfits at all! ahh, even though it's barely started, the fact that he's on a date right now with a girl still feels like a dream to tsumugi. he was this close to back out out of sheer nervousness, but weiss just had to double down on what they both want and --

all right, time to line up and get themselves inside the park. it's pretty typical as far as amusement parks go, but with some of the rides powered with either magic or highly-advanced technology, it's bound to be wholly different from back home. ]

Are there places like these back at your home? I've been to places like these in mine, but only for perform and the like.

[schmisse]

Amusement parks definitely exist, but I never really had a chance to go to one.

[ Is she saying it's her first time to an amusement park? Yeah... She's gone to fairs before, but that's because they were hosted by the schools she's been to! Weiss never really had any friends until she met her team a year ago, though... so even if she wanted to go to an amusement park, she had nobody to go with. ]

I don't really know what to expect, really.

[ her first time... that puts a bit of pressure on tsumugi's shoulders, because now he's gonna have to show her a good time while they're here. not that he wouldn't before knowing that, but tsumugi's an anxious little bean beneath that genial smile of his. ]

Well, then. We may not have all day to try all the rides, but let's take on as many as we can. ♪

[ now let's see, what should they try first... there's a board that displays a map of all the rides available here, so that's helpful. ]

How about an easier ride first, then we work our way up? There's this one where you sit on this boat and it swings like a pendulum while it increases the speed, but there's also this cute teacup ride where you spin round and round? Unless you're the type to get sick real easily...

[schmisse]

I don't get sick easily, but that sounds like a ride for children.

[ At least, in her opinion, anyway. Count on Weiss to be very frank about things.

She looks up at the map and tries to find the boat ride that Tsumugi had mentioned. She'd definitely want to try out the more exciting rides first, so she points to it once she finds it. ]

Let's try this, and then we can try a roller coaster. Oh, look! [ She points at a ride that seems to be similar to a roller coaster in terms of art, but there's water all around it. ] This seems fun! I don't have any extra clothes, though.

[ She takes a step back and looks down at her feet as she thinks. ]

I should have planned for this better.

[ no, he gets it. leave it to tsumugi to start off safe first. he glances at the ride weiss is pointing at, then at his own clothes. ]

I'm sure they'll provide us with something to protect us from the water. I didn't know what to expect either, but isn't that the fun part of being in an amusement park?

[ spontaneity can be good! tsumugi's slowly starting to realize that. he'll lead the way towards the ride from there, and luckily they only have to wait once in line before it's their turn to hitch a ride.

let's see, small talk... ]

Hm. Does this mean you're not afraid of heights, Weiss-chan? There are much bigger rides than this one, you know.

[schmisse]

I'm not. If I didn't have proper training, then I probably would, though.

[ She realises that might not make much sense, so she clarifies: ]

The entrance exam to get into Beacon had us get propelled off a mountain cliff and into a forest below. Then we had other missions where we had to jump off helicopters and airships.

[ She shrugs her shoulders. ]

It's not scary.

That still sounds scary, though? If you're not prepared, that is. My only experience was bungee-jumping off the school roof that one time, but yours are much more thrilling!

[ that piques his interest, actually. he takes a couple more steps as the line inches forward. ]

What kind of school Beacon is, anyway? My own school is just a run-of-the-mill training school for performers, so it might not be as exciting.

[schmisse]

Beacon was an academy that trained future Huntsmen and Huntresses. [ She says "was" and not "is", but she doesn't clarify yet. ] In Remnant, where I'm from, the world is infested with monsters called Grimm who are attracted to negative emotions. Huntsmen and Huntresses are there to eradicate Grimm and protect humanity.

We were attacked during the Vytal festival, though. A lot of people got hurt, some died... the school fell.

[ It's all said rather straightforwardly, but Weiss looks a little sorry as she says it. She doesn't want to dampen the mood or anything. They're on a date, after all. :( ]

Oh. I'm... very sorry to hear that.

[ he shouldn't have asked, but it's not like he knew in the first place. still, he can't help but feel guilty and -

grab for her hand as he takes one more step forward. ]

Well, this may not make up for what happened back then, but I did promise you a good time today. No sense in dwelling back in the past when we can always strive to make the present better for our future, right? Or something like that.

[schmisse]

[ Weiss is a little surprised at first, and the pensive look on her face stays for a few seconds even after Tsumugi takes her hand. Eventually, she smiles, though, with red cheeks completely against her pale skin. ]

I didn't mean to be a downer. Don't forget, I'm here to show you a good time, too. Let's make today something memorable together.

[ She squeezes his hand before leading the way to where the boat ride is. She can see it from the distance! ]

[ tsumugi lets himself be led towards the boat ride, feeling very warm and bubbly inside from their moonlaced hands. luckily the boat ride doesn't have a long line compared to the rollercoasters in this area, so they're able to snag a couple seats at the back, where it's said to be the best seats on this ride. ]

Ahaha, I'm not sure if I'm excited or nervous...

[ let's hope he doesn't scream his throat raw during this one moderately easy ride... ]

Who says you can't be both?

[ Weiss certainly feels both right now. She's never gone on a ride like this before! That's why she's excited. But she's also nervous that she's going to embarrass herself in front of Tsumugi during the ride.

The operator says to keep all hands in the boat, and there's a safety handle in front of them that locks them in their sets afterwards. Weiss lets go of Tsumugi's hand so she can place them on the bar, but she looks back at him, a little apologetic. ]

... Okay, I'm a little more nervous than excited now.

[ The ride's started to move!!!! ]

[ look, having to express more than one intense emotion at the same time is still a new concept for tsumugi, but maybe things will be different this time! tsumugi feels the ride shift as the boat slowly moves backwards before rocking forward... so far, so good, actually. ]

Ah--Ahaha, this isn't so bad! It seems we picked out an easy ride after all--

[ but then it picks up the pace, the boat pulling itself backwards as far as possible before letting go just as fast, cutting off tsumugi's words and causing him to help and hold on to the handle in front of him. ]

Eek! No way, it can go higher...?! [ he hasn't screamed yet, at least! he's still safe!! ]

[schmisse]

It's actually not so ba— ah! Look! We're so high up!

[ They haven't even reached the highest that the boat can go! This is really exciting, and Weiss is filled with wonder as she looks around before the boat dips down.

Then she notices Tsumugi, so she puts a hand over his to hold. ]

It's gonna be fine!

[fineprinted]

[ tsumugi's a little surprised at her hand covering his, his face reddenning even more from the moonlacing. that did the trick a little, though, he takes a deep breath as they're steered forward. ]

Whoa!!

[ and then back! and he's shutting his eyes, focusing on the warmth of weiss's hand to calm himself down a bit, though he isn't sure if it's working when the adrenaline from the ride's kicking in. ]

Hyiiiiii--! Too fast, too high! [ it isn't even that fast yet, ]

[schmisse]

[ Oh my god he's a goober

Weiss keeps her hand on him, but she's actually having fun. She won't tell Tsumugi to calm down or anything, though. But they can talk about it once the ride is finished!

But for now, there's a minute more to the ride and they're going to keep going up and down until the ride eventually slows down. ]

[ the ride finally slows down, and... well, at least tsumugi can still stand up? but he's trembling a little as he's led off the ride along with weiss, and when he speaks his voice is just as shaky. ]

...On one hand, I didn't get to see my life flashing before my eyes, so I'll take that as a good thing?

[ his hands are freezing cold though. please hold them. ]

[schmisse]

[ Weiss takes his hand so she can lead him to a bench just outside the ride premises. She doesn't have a bottle of water, else she'd offer that to him. ]

Maybe no more rides like that for now.

[ Or ever? She's not sure how well Tsumugi would do on roller coasters. ]

Are you alright?

[ tsumugi's shaking his head, turning to her with a huge smile on his face despite what just happened on that ride. blame the adrenaline. ]

I'm fine! It's just that... I haven't ridden those in such a long time, so I'd forgotten what they were like. Please, let's not stop on my account.

[ he is quite peckish, though, so. ]

Are you hungry? We should check out what kind of food they're selling here.

[schmisse]

I could use a snack.

[ Definitely something sweet. Weiss may not look like it, but she has a bit of a sweet tooth. Just enough for her to lose what she gains through exercise. ]

Also, I guueeeesss I could just forget about what happened earlier. I promise I won't tell anyone.

[ Weiss also cannot keep secrets. She physically can't. Good luck with that, Tsumugi. ]

D-Don't mention it! Seriously...

[ not that it'd be surprising to anyone who ever asks.......... anyway, the food stalls aren't too far away, with how the sweet and savory smells of food luring in anyone who needs a bit of a break from all the festivities. ]

They're really taking the cosmic themes of this planet very seriously, aren't they? [ he's glancing at a little donut shop with rows of star- and crescent-moon shaped donuts on display. ] I'd probably grab a couple of donuts and maybe a churro to walk around with. What about you, Weiss-chan?

[schmisse]

They're really cute!

[ In fact, she kind of wants a donut now. But she also spots a frozen yoghurt stand next to it, and that's where she ends up going. She really likes yoghurt... ]

I'll have blueberry yoghurt and some sprinkles on it, please.
